So, we received the Pool on Monday, and we received all the stuff for the fence on Tuesday. I am not sure if I have talked much about the fence yet, but I am also putting in a privacy fence on my lot boundary. It is not a pre-made panel deal, but I am intending it to be a one off, hand made, cedar thing of beauty. We will see how all that turns out.
Pool Kit Delivery
Won't lie, I was in a high state of anxiety for this delivery. I did not pay for the lift gate service. I didn't see the need at the time, but as the actual delivery got closer, I began to start to worry.
Worries were unfounded. Fedex did a wonderful job. The driver assisted in the unload. It was me, my wife and two of my daughters (ages 10&14).
The kit came on two pallets, they appeared to be 4'x8' each, and they were pretty heavy. We opened the pallets and unloaded the truck, basically piece by piece. We unloaded it into the front yard at first, we then loaded up the pieces into the lawn tractor trailer, and move them to the back yard. All in all, the whole process took about 2 hours. It was much less than I had expected, and it worked out way better than I had imagined.
I had read some reviews that it took someone all day to unload the truck. I just don't see how that could have happened. While this was a bit of work. There is no way I could complain about it, knowing how much more work we still have to go yet.
Privacy Fence Materials Delivery
This was really no surprise, other than they delivered it on the 4th of July. I ordered all the stuff from Home Depot. It was easy and they only charge a flat fee of 60 dollars to deliver it all. From what I can see, it all looks to be in decent shape. I have not unbound the wood yet though, so we will see if we have many banana shaped boards. For this delivery, I had (102) 5/4" cedar deck boards, (500) 5/8" cedar pickes, (44) bags of cement, (40) 8' 2 3/8 metal fence poles, (40) 8x4x2 cement bricks, and some gate hardware, and lag bolts. I will be doing a more involved post about the fence soon.
But, basically is is a 5' high, cedar fence, with a solid panel (no gaps between the pickets) and steel poles, 3' in the ground, clad with cedar.
Things to come
This weekend my Dad is coming over and we are planning to get the steel walls up in the pool. This not only means getting the walls all bolted together, but it also means leveling the pool. It has to be right or it will suck. I am also hoping to get the ground in the pool smoothed out a bit more and get the area around the pool hole clear of dirt and debris, because we need to be able to get the power buggies around the pool when we pour the Concrete bond beam.
After the walls are up though, I will have the inspector out to give us the go-ahead. Fingers are crossed on that.
