I officially hate rain, it has pretty much rained every single day since the walls were put up. It has created a NIGHTMARE for me. I have erosion. It has basically destroyed the shelf the pool is supposed to sit on, along with the taper down to the deep end, and the deep end itself.
Basically I built a truss system from 1 x 2's and 1 x 3's and covered the whole pool with tarps. It was a serious pain in the ass, and I can not wait until the rain is over. It is killing this project right now. Tomorrow there are supposed to be scattered showers. I am hoping it misses us, and we can at least get some of the fence posts in the ground.
I say that this is terrible, but I was able to repair the majority of the damage. The ground here in Michigan is a lot of clay. Basically while the bottom of the hopper was we, we dug and slung the muddy slurry up into the tapered in walls where there was erosion, after this dried a bit, we were able to scrape it into the general shape we need for the tapered in walls.
This was far from fun, but it did the trick. We still have a little work to do, there are some areas that still need some more dirt or mud, and some packing with the tamper to make sure we have the compression needed on the surface before we add the cement. I do not want to see anything sink while we pour in the cement.
The inspecter will be here on Monday (in two days) to inspect the steel. We are ready for that inspection, and after that, we will be able to get some cement on order. The biggest current issue I am having is, how am I going to transport the concrete from the from of the house, to the rear of the house. Some people seem to think that the truck can pull across the yard and get into the general area. Personally I believe it will not be able to get up the incline in my front yard, and it also could possibly sink considering we have had so much rain.
The pump option is not realistic considering they want a minimum of 1200 dollars for a pump... The concrete is cheaper than that. I can not justify spending 1200 or more for the pump. I think the power buggies could possibly sink. That's not a option. So, at this very moment I am thinking I will rent a skid steer and use the bucket to move the concrete to the back yard. This will give me the opportunity to push some dirt around the property while I am at it.
I am open to ideas.
